Mourayan In Top Form For 2012 Craven Plate Run

October 5th, 2012

Mourayan is on track to run one of his best races in the Group 3 Craven Plate at Royal Randwick Racecourse tomorrow October 6, 2012.

The seven-year-old ran fourth in the Group 2 Makybe Diva Stakes first-up this spring, before placing second in the Group 2 Hill Stakes at Royal Randwick last start.

The Alhaarth entire has won three of his 31 race starts and has earned more than $970,000 in prize money.

Mourayan is nominated for the 2012 Cox Plate and Caulfield Cup this spring, as well as the $6 million Melbourne Cup 2012.

Owner Lloyd Williams is expecting tomorrow’s race to go exceptionally well in the 2012 Craven Plate.

“I’d be disappointed if (jockey) Hughie Bowman doesn’t give me a pretty good report tomorrow. I expect him to run pretty well,” Williams said.

“I think he’ll be either leading or running second, the barrier (11) suits him, he’ll strike forward. . . and will be strong in the finish.”

Williams will use tomorrow’s 2012 Craven Plate to assess the entire’s chances in the top feature stayig\ng races throughout the remainder of the spring.

“He looks better now than any time that we’ve had him.

“Tomorrow is D-day for him (but) we couldn’t have him better.”

Mouryan is currently trained at Macedon by trainer Robert Hickmott after spending his formative years racing in his home country of Ireland and Great Britain.
