2010 Craven Plate Nominations Feature Caulfield & Melbourne Cup Hopefuls

September 27th, 2010

A bumper day of racing is planned for Randwick this Saturday for Epsom Handicap Day with seven Group status races scheduled to light up the track including the $125,000 Group 3 Craven Plate (2000m).

Set to be a quality weight-for-age showdown worth checking out the odds for, the 2010 Craven Plate has attracted 18 nominations including many gallopers on their way to the major spring features.

Many Craven Plate entries are seeking a spot in the Caulfield & Melbourne Cups so expect a big show!

Owner Lloyd Williams has entered six of his Caulfield and Melbourne Cup hopefuls with Alandi, C’est La Guerre, Mourayan, Rundle, Zipping and Linton.

Coming off a gallant third to Precedence in last weekend’s JRA Cup, four-year-old Galileo gelding Linton especially is seeking a Caulfield Cup penalty in the Craven Plate still well down the order of entry for the $2.5 million feature in equal 29th.

Other notable Craven Plate nominees include Peter Snowden’s in-form mare Purple and the Chris Waller-trained Group 1 winner Triple Honour.

The final field of Craven Plate acceptances will be released later in the week and we will publish the list of horses along with the latest odds and betting tips.

Randwick’s Saturday meeting is headlined by four Group 1 races with the Epsom Handicap (1600m), Spring Champion Stakes (2000m), Flight Stakes (1600m) and The Metropolitan (2400m) making it a great day for punters and racing purists!
