The Craven Plate is a Group 3 thoroughbred race open to three-year-olds and up. It is run over 2,000 metres under weight for age conditions. The race takes place every October as part of the Sydney Spring Carnival at the Randwick Racecourse. Contenders compete for a total of $125,000. The 2010 Craven Plate will be run on October 2. Interestingly, in 2007 the race was cancelled due to the Swine Flu outbreak. This marked the first time in nearly 25 years the race was not run.
